Assistant Coach

"Statistics tell us that about half of all assistant coaches aspire to be head coaches. The road to becoming a head coach, however, is slippery. Coaching as an assistant lays foundation for stepping up to the position where the buck stop, the head job. Assistant coaches have many responsibilities. When they master those responsibilities, the door may open to becoming the HEAD COACH."

My name is Heskin "Heskino" Mzungu aka Assistant Coach. My first entry to the coach's words must begin with a definition of the assistant role. The assistant coach plays a big role in the success of a team. I am sure you remember the influence of Eddie Jones and Allister Coetzee in the success of the springboks last year. Mr Jake White is now in the company of Rod Macqueen, Brian Lochore (assistant coaches Alex Wyllie and John Hart), Kitch Christie and Sir Clive Woodward.

We now begin a new era in South African Rugby on Saturday 7th June 2008 with a Peiter De Viliers on the driving seat. Will Dick Muir and Gary Gold play their roles and give the South African Public another year of Saturdays braai's and beer happy Monday Rugby Analysis...

Great article......Assistant Coach! Clearly you understand your roles very well...As a matter of opinion, i had recently started doubting Dick's tactical approach as Coach (Sharks). As much as he is a technically gifted coach (enough to make him assistant coach), i still have unanswered questions in his tactical consciousness. Gary also failed the Stormers in previous seasons....So eish.....Its all up to DiV

My impression on these guys is that they didn't cut it as HEAD coaches so maybe as assistant coaches with PDV pulling their chains a turn around might be in order!!Aish BRO!!
